He began his administrative role as a Vice Principal at Starr King K-8, then served as the principal at Cambridge Heights Elementary, Del Paso Manor K-6 and now sits in the same position at Katherine Johnson Middle School. He has worked at many schools across the district, serving high and low density populations, and everything in between. Richard Judge has been in the San Juan District since 1993, when he joined Mira Loma High School as a math teacher. In 1999 he moved into administration, serving as Vice-Principal at Bella Vista, Rio Americano, and Encina High Schools. In 2014 he accepted the position of Principal at Encina. Over 25 years in San Juan – and 20 years in administration - has provided Richard with the experience and depth of knowledge necessary to understand the work of his SJPEC colleagues, the challenges they face, and their need of essential resources to do their job well. He is honored to lead his colleagues as President-Elect of SJPEC to help improve their work environment within the District.

Melanie Allen

President-Elect

Melanie started as an elementary school teacher in a neighboring district. After completing her admin credential, she moved to San Juan to be the principal at Deterding where she has been happily working for the past 9 years. In addition to being a principal, Melanie is the Coordinator of Advanced and Accelerated Programs to support the IB and Rapid Learner programs. Through that position, she has gained a lot of insight on the differences between secondary and elementary schools. Melanie was previously on the SJPEC board as the VP of Communications and is excited to be back as the President Elect.
